Glenn Miller disappeared on December 15, 1944. The bandleader went down over the English Channel on a flight from London to Paris at the height of his popularity. Not long before he enlisted, he nosed-out Tommy Dorsey, the “Best Sweet Band” in the Downbeat poll. His recordings of In The Mood, Chattanooga Choo Choo, A String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade and Tuxedo Junction were all major hit records.
Now, over sixty years since the public first embraced the successful Miller Sound, both the legend and the music live on. The Glenn Miller Orchestra is the most sought after big band in the world today for both concert and dance engagements.
The Miller Estate formed the present Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1956 following strong popular demand aroused as a result of the successful motion picture, an immense box office smash - The Glenn Miller Story, starring James Stewart and June Allyson. The band has been touring consistently since, playing an average of 300 live dates a year around the globe to millions of fans.

Born in Canada and raised in his native Italy from the age of two, Roberto Michael Buttarazzi (a.k.a Robert Michaels) first heard the guitar when a friend played a few bars of a Beatle’s song. The Nob Hill Boys are an established bluegrass unit whose commitment to tradition is clear in every aspect of their performances. This award-winning band has produced three CDs and entertained audiences all across the Midwest for the past six years. The group takes a traditional approach to bluegrass with a nod to the standard repertoire of the past, but also enjoys bringing obscure gems and fine original material to light.
As an actor, Mel Johnson Jr. co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall and starred on Broadway as Mufasa in The Lion King.
Mel performs as Frederick Douglass in “In the Shadow of Slavery.” This one-man performance in dramatic story and song chronicles the life of Frederick Douglass, who has been called the father of the civil rights movement. From his childhood as a slave to his perilous escape to freedom, Douglass’s remarkable life is sure to educate and entertain.
