World Cuisine Dinner
Go International!

Please join the Parkside International Club for an exciting evening of entertainment and worldly cuisine. To conclude this year’s Worldfest, PIC invites you to its 4th annual World Cuisine Dinner. This year’s lineup will consist of an eclectic lineup of entertainment from all around the world. We will be showcasing exciting New Zealand dances of Hale-o-Malo and the heart thumping dance of the Renacer Boliviano Dance Troupe. In addition to these exciting acts we will also feature a myriad of student performances as well as a fashion show showcasing some beautiful traditional garments from across the globe.

If the exciting entertainment isn’t enough, the dinner will feature cuisine and desserts from all around the world. A vast variety of specialty foods will tantalize your taste buds and lead you to explore these wonderful culinary dishes in your own kitchens.

This dinner has sold out the past two years so get your tickets early! Tickets for students will be $10 (with ID) and $20 for all others. WIPZ sponsored concerts
2nd annual Midwest music festival will be held feb.18h and 19 from 6pm to 1am on the first day and 4pm to 1am on day 2. we will be having performances by: pictures of then, Racine native Mr. Frizo, B-Easy,Kris styles And headlined by the frantic and many more acts. come out and join the fun,come early it is going to be a maxium of only 350 people that will be able to get in. We also will be having an afterparty hosted by DJ Craig McNeal. It will be free to students with UWP ID and $5 for both days for everyone else.

Arts Alive! presents THE NOB HILL BOYS

An audience favorite all over the Midwest, the Nob Hill Boys have entertained on the concert stage, outdoor events, and cameo appearances on A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor. The Nob Hill Boys are an established bluegrass unit whose commitment to tradition is clear in every aspect of their performances. This award-winning band has produced three CDs and entertained audiences all across the Midwest for the past six years. The group takes a traditional approach to bluegrass with a nod to the standard repertoire of the past, but also enjoys bringing obscure gems and fine original material to light.

Arts Alive! presents Frederick Douglass

As an actor, Mel Johnson Jr. co-starred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Total Recall and starred on Broadway as Mufasa in The Lion King.

Mel performs as Frederick Douglass in “In the Shadow of Slavery.” This one-man performance in dramatic story and song chronicles the life of Frederick Douglass, who has been called the father of the civil rights movement. From his childhood as a slave to his perilous escape to freedom, Douglass’s remarkable life is sure to educate and entertain.

Arts Alive! presents CELTIC CROSSROADS

When this group (under their original name Music At The Crossroads) appeared here in 2007-2008, the audience was left speechless by these outstanding young talents from Ireland and Scotland. If you missed them the first time around, now’s your chance. Singers, instrumentalists, dancers – all with amazing energy and an outstanding stage show. This is sure to be another sellout so bring the whole family and celebrate the music from the Emerald Isles.

Arts Alive! presents Di Wu

Born in China, Di Wu made her professional debut with the Beijing Philharmonic at the age of 14. Ms. Wu moved to New York City in 1999, completed her undergraduate work at the Curtis Institute of Music, a Master’s Degree from The Julliard School. She is now in the second year of the Julliard Artist Diploma in Performance program and received the 2009 Julliard William Petschek Piano Recital Award.

Di was singled out as one of the “up and coming talents” of classical music by Musical America. She has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra at Kennedy Center and numerous other orchestras around the country.

Di Wu’s performance here includes a hand selected program of solo piano and concerto favorites featuring the UW-Parkside Symphony Orchestra. The concert concludes with a stirring rendition of the audience favorite, George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.
